The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 And the breath of morning 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
