The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
