The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he beheld, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
