The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
