He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to a rich man, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 You neglect. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
