Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people: “I totally disown all whom you serve 26 "(I worship) only Him Who made me, and He will certainly guide me." 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 In fact, I allowed them and their fathers to enjoy this life till the truth, and the apostle preaching it lucidly, came to them. 29 And when the truth cometh unto them, they say this is magic, and verily we are therein disbelievers. 30 They say: “Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon some great man from the two (main) cities?” 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We should make for those who disbelieve in the Compassionate roofs of silver for their houses and silver stairways whereby they ascend. 33 with doors to their houses and couches on which to recline; 34 And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous. 35
