The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
