The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water poured out 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
