The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
