He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
