Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 about the sinners. 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
