The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 This is an unfair distinction! 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
