Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, but We have opened them; and We have made of water everything living, will they not then believe? 30 We set firm mountains upon the earth lest it should shake with them, and We placed therein ravines to be paths so that they might be guided. 31 And We have made the heavens as a canopy well guarded: yet do they turn away from the Signs which these things (point to)! 32 And He it is Who hath created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orb floating. 33 We granted not to any man before thee permanent life (here): if then thou shouldst die, would they live permanently? 34 Every living being shall taste death and We shall subject you to ill and good by way of trial, and to Us shall all of you be eventually sent back. 35 When the unbelievers see you they make you an object of fun, saying: "Is he the one who mentions your gods?" They say so, and yet they reject with disdain the very mention of the Most Compassionate Lord. 36 Man is made of inordinate haste. We will show you Our signs, then you will not desire to hasten (the punishment). 37 And they say: when cometh this torment if ye are truth-tellers! 38 If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided... 39 That will suddenly come upon them and stupefy them. They shall not be able to ward it off, nor shall they be granted any respite. 40 Before you, other Messengers were mocked, but the mockers were encompassed by the very thing they mocked. 41
