Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
