The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
