And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 Does he give you a promise that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be raised to life again? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
