The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
