Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] 3 And by the Verses (of the Quran) that separate the right from the wrong. 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 By way of excuse or warning. 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 The Messengers will receive their appointments. 11 For what day is it timed? 12 Upon the Day of Decision! 13 Would that you knew about the Day of Judgment! 14 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 For a known extent. 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And placed therein high mountains and given you to drink sweet water therein? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 [They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny. 29 Depart unto the shadow falling threefold, 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 Indeed hell throws up sparks like huge castles. 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
