The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
