So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say, 'He is a poet for whom we await Fate's uncertainty'? 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 Or do they say: "He has fabricated it?" In fact, they will never believe. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Or, are the treasures of your Lord in their keeping? Or, are they the controllers? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Do you (Muhammad) ask them for any payment (for your preaching) which they cannot afford? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from heaven, they would say, 'A massed cloud!' 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs when they shall be struck down, 45 The Day when their guile shall not relieve them a thing, and they shall not be helped. 46 Surely there are other torments besides this for those who are wicked, though most of them do not know. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 and also celebrate His praise at night, and at the retreat of the stars. 49
