۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 In fact this day they have all surrendered. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
