The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
