The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
