Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And (it is He), who sends down water from the sky in its measure thereby We revive the land that was dead, as such you shall be brought forth. 11 It is He who has created everything in pairs and the ships and cattle for you to ride, 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
