The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
