NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 As a warning unto men, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
