The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
