He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
