The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [when they say to one another,] "Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 And We did not send before you any but men to whom We sent revelation, so ask the followers of the reminder if you do not 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
