A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they behaved insolently and they were people self-exalting (by disobeying their Lord, and exalting themselves over and above the Messenger of Allah). 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
