The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
