The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 running in confusion towards the Summoning Voice; [and] those who [now] deny the truth will exclaim, "Calamitous is this Day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
