The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Has the Reminder been cast upon him alone among us? Nay, rather he is an impudent liar.' 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 for We are [going to] send the she-camel as a trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And assuredly they solicited him for his guests: then We wiped out their eyes: taste then My torment and My warnings. 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
