The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created the human being 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
