Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
