The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He has created man: 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
