The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man 3 and He has taught him the Explanation. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
