The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
