The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
