The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
