The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
