The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And shade extended 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
