The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
