The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
