The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
