The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
