The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
