The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
