The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
