The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
